The 2.6.32-5 AMD64 kernel in Linux Mint Xfce recognized the 3TB external usb hdd, but not the usb wifi. The first update in LMDE upgraded kernel 2.6.39-2 AMD64. My system did not recognize the hard drive but did recognize the usb wifi.
